Kosher Restaurants in Strasbourg
Strasbourg has one of France's oldest and most solidly established Jewish communities, with an active Consistorial infrastructure and its own local Beth Din in the tradition of the historic Alsatian rabbinate. Kosher supervision is run mainly through the Consistoire Israelite du Bas-Rhin and its Rabbinat de Strasbourg, whose KS (Kosher Strasbourg) label under Rabbi Michael Szmerla certifies most local eateries, alongside Chabad and a few venues under the Beth Din de Paris. The dining scene is compact but varied, with meat grills, dairy cafes and pizzerias, kosher bakeries, and an ORT university restaurant.
Most kosher venues cluster in the Contades and Orangerie districts north of the center, especially along boulevard Clemenceau and the nearby streets around the Synagogue de la Paix, which makes walking between several restaurants and bakeries easy. A second small group sits around rue Finkmatt, rue Schwendi, and rue Selenick within the same broad area. All certified venues close for Shabbat from Friday afternoon through Saturday night, so plan Friday meals early and buy bread and pastries before sundown.
