Toulouse has one of France's larger provincial Jewish communities, historically centered on the Cote Pavee district and served by the Consistoire de Toulouse and its Beth Din. Jewish community life clusters in the Cote Pavee area in the east of the city, but the certified eateries are spread out across the center near the Espace du Judaisme at place Riquet, the Minimes and Lapujade districts to the north, and the Ramelet Moundi area to the west. All kosher venues close for Shabbat from Friday afternoon through Saturday night, so plan Friday meals early and shop before sundown. A car or the metro helps, since the restaurants are not concentrated in one walkable strip.
