Cities in Switzerland
Zurich
5Zurich has Switzerland's largest Jewish community, with a well-established Orthodox presence anchored by the Israelitische Religionsgesellschaft (IRG / Agudas Achim) and the larger Israelitische Cultusgemeinde Zurich (ICZ). Kosher life is concentrated in the adjacent Enge (8002) and Wiedikon (8003) districts on the city's southwest side, where you find the kosher restaurant, food trucks, a bakery, and the kosher supermarkets and butcher. The scene is small but reliable: one full-service meat restaurant, a dairy/vegetarian bagel cafe, meat and falafel food trucks, a bakery, and several groceries with prepared food.

4Geneva has one of Switzerland's two largest Jewish communities, centered on the Communaute Israelite de Geneve (CIG) plus the liberal GIL and the Sephardi Hekhal Haness community. Kosher dining clusters in the Champel, Florissant and Eaux-Vives neighborhoods (postal codes 1206 and 1208). Because Swiss law bans shechita, kosher meat is imported (largely from France), so the scene leans toward a community restaurant, a couple of independent spots, caterers, a bakery and cross-border kosher supermarkets in nearby Gaillard, France.
