Greater Manchester is home to the UK's largest Jewish community outside London, and its kosher food scene is among the most developed in Britain. The overwhelming majority of certified establishments are licensed by the Manchester Beth Din (MBD), which trades its certification arm as MK Kosher. Venues range from meat grills and Middle Eastern kitchens to dairy pizzerias, sushi bars, gelato shops, and traditional Jewish bakeries and delis. A handful of places carry other supervisions (such as Machzikei Hadass Manchester) or operate as Jewish-style delis without a current hechsher.

Traveler's note

Kosher venues cluster heavily in Prestwich (Bury New Road, Bury Old Road, Kings Road) and in Broughton Park and Higher Broughton in Salford (Leicester Road and surrounding streets), with further pockets in Whitefield, Crumpsall (M8) and the M8 Cheetham Hill corridor. South Manchester has a smaller cluster around Hale Barns and Cheadle serving the southern community. Almost all certified establishments close for Shabbat from Friday afternoon and reopen Saturday night or Sunday, so plan Friday shopping and Saturday-night dining accordingly. Prestwich and Salford venues are walkable from the main residential streets and Metrolink stops.
