New Jersey has one of the largest and most varied kosher dining scenes in the United States, spread across several distinct Orthodox communities rather than a single downtown. The main hubs are Bergen County (centered on Teaneck, Englewood, and Fair Lawn), Lakewood and greater Ocean County, Passaic and Clifton, and the Syrian and Sephardic community around Deal and Oakhurst on the Jersey Shore. Each hub runs its own local vaad, so a restaurant in Teaneck, one in Lakewood, and one in Deal will typically carry three different certifications.
