It is an authentic Bukharian restaurant built around one thing: fresh meat, served with the sensibility of a butcher shop. From the moment you walk in you feel the Bukharian atmosphere, and a big glass vitrine full of meat tells you exactly what kind of place you have come to. Over the last ten years I have been to Samarkand a few dozen times, and the food has been excellent every single time. The service is warm and family run, the kind that makes you feel less like a customer and more like a guest who stumbled onto somewhere special. If you go, my top picks are the sweetbread, the goose liver, and the ribeye skewers. Order those and you will understand why I keep coming back.
