Tel Aviv-Yafo is Israel's most secular city, and unlike most of the country only about half of its eateries are certified kosher, so which places carry a hechsher, and from whom, genuinely matters here. The baseline certifier is the Tel Aviv Rabbinate (Rabbanut Tel Aviv), which supervises at regular and Mehadrin tiers; some establishments add a private Badatz (e.g. Beit Yosef) or Tzohar. This list covers roughly 500 kosher restaurants, cafes, and bakeries across the city.

Last updated August 2026. We recheck our Tel Aviv listings against the certifying agencies.

Traveler's note

Kosher density is highest in southern and central neighborhoods (Neve Tzedek, Florentin, the Central Bus Station area, Bukharian spots along Ben Zvi Rd) and business districts (Ramat HaChayal, Sarona). Many kosher establishments close from Friday afternoon through Saturday night for Shabbat; secular Tel Aviv otherwise stays open. Jaffa (Yafo) has a mix of kosher and non-kosher eateries.

Where to eat kosher in Tel Aviv

Tel Aviv is a big, mostly secular city with an enormous amount of food, and a serious kosher scene threaded all through it. The catch, unlike most of Israel, is that plenty of restaurants here are simply not kosher, so the certificate is the thing to check.

Where the kosher tables are

The scene is spread across the city rather than sitting on one strip. The center around Rothschild, Dizengoff, and the Sarona dining complex gives you the polished, dressed-up restaurants. Florentin and the Carmel market area, around Nachalat Binyamin and Kerem HaTeimanim, run younger and more casual. Up north, Ramat HaChayal is the tech and business district, which makes it strong for a weekday lunch.

And then there is Old Jaffa on the seafront, which has some of the most beautiful rooms in the city, hotel dining rooms and terraces looking out over the water. If you want one area to base a food-focused trip, the Rothschild-to-Sarona stretch puts the most within reach.

Kosher in a non-kosher city

This is the thing to understand about Tel Aviv. Unlike Jerusalem or Bnei Brak, the city is largely secular, so many restaurants are not kosher at all, and the kosher ones sit right next door to them. That makes the teudah more important here, not less. Do not assume; look for the certificate.

Most kosher venues carry the Tel Aviv Rabbinate, either the regular level or Mehadrin, with some under private badatzim or Tzohar. If a particular standard matters to you, the certificate on the wall tells you which body and which tier.

The places we have eaten

Tel Aviv is one of the cities we know best first-hand, so a good number of the listings here carry our own review rather than just the facts. We have written up a sea-view dinner at the Setai in Jaffa, a burger on Rothschild, skewers, a whisky cellar under Sarona, and more, each with an honest score on its own page. Look for the ones marked as our picks. Most kosher spots close for Shabbat from Friday afternoon through Saturday night, so plan a Friday lunch or a hotel meal if you are here over the weekend.
